There Really Ought to Be More Outrage Over This

I see that once again, Jimmy Carter is doing what he does best; providing legitimacy and cover for dictators and tyrants. Apparently, his own failed foreign policy–which consisted largely of similar suck-ups to the worst of the leadership class around the world–and the electoral beating that he got as a consequence never served to convince him that (a) this kind of fawning over autocrats and totalitarians doesn’t work; and (b) the American people are repulsed by it.

Speaking of elections, it ought to be remembered that Carter cut a video presented at the Democratic National Convention warmly endorsing Barack Obama for a second term. Someone should ask the current president what he thinks of the former one’s decision to gallavant around Venezuela telling people that Hugo Chavez’s electoral machine is all peachy, dandy, and above board.
