In Memoriam: Neil Armstrong

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on August 26, 2012

NASA’s motto is ad astra per aspera. But any hardships that were encountered in humankind’s effort to escape Earth and explore the Heavens were made easier by the example set by its astronauts. First among them will always rank Neil Armstrong.

The Armstrong family issued the following entirely appropriate request:

For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.

It would be hard to imagine a better commemoration.

UPDATE: How long will it take before people begin claiming that NASA faked the Armstrong death?
