In Memoriam: Joseph Kirsner

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on July 17, 2012

Joseph Kirsner showed up to my bar mitzvah, gave a very generous gift, and said nice things about me and the event to my parents.

In his spare time, he absolutely revolutionized the field of gastroenterology.

I wish he lived and worked forever. I think the world would have been better off if he had. But however brief his time on this Earth–though it wasn’t brief when compared to the time that ordinary mortals have–there can be no doubt that he did everything in his power to leave the planet better than he found it. Not a bad legacy, that.
