How Much Does Barack Obama Care About Reducing the Student Loan Burden?

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on April 24, 2012

Not enough to bother cosponsoring or voting for a bill in 2007 that worked to keep student loan rates low. In 2012, of course, President Obama is perfectly willing to campaign on the issue to get votes, but Senator Obama couldn’t trouble himself to show up for work, vote to pass the bill, add his name to the list of cosponsors, and do the hard work of governing five years ago, when he had the chance to.

No surprise. There wasn’t an election in 2007.

A note to Mitt Romney: Talk about the gap between the president’s rhetoric and his work on this issue. Do it a lot.
