A shocking loss. Too often, in academia, one finds pompous, arrogant, and thoroughly annoying people with an inflated sense of their own abilities, but by all accounts, Professor Ribstein was a decent, kind man, who was also a brilliant scholar with penetrating insights. Academia in general–and legal scholarship in particular–will be poorer for his absence. Requiescat in pace.
