Designed to Fail

As Megan McArdle points out, the Obama Administration’s jobs bill is filled with tax deduction phase-outs that are worse than actual marginal tax hikes. And paying for the jobs bill with tax hikes will only serve to reduce any stimulative aspect of the jobs bill. As such, it is quite proper to term the jobs bill as one that is “only designed to produce one job–a second term for Barack Obama.”

Meanwhile, via Ben Domenech, a very good explanation as to why tax cuts aimed at creating jobs just don’t work.
