I don’t know what it means to state that Jon Huntsman has been “ripping on prospective voters,” but I do agree that Huntsman’s plans to reform the tax code and create jobs are excellent, and worthy of attention. More on Huntsman’s plans can be found here. I note that none of the other candidates for the Republican Presidential nomination are being nearly as specific with their own plans to help right the economy.
It would be nice to think that at some point in time, we will focus on the specificity and credibility of the candidates’ policy proposals. The future of the Republic may depend upon us doing so. Kudos to Huntsman both for his substantive contribution to the economic policy debate, and for edging the punditry class closer to the realms of seriousness by forcing them–us–to actually talk about policy. The election isn’t just about gauging a horserace, after all.
