The Debt Ceiling Debate Gets Worse, and May Not Have Time to Get Better

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on July 27, 2011

Apparently, the Boehner bill does not cut spending as much as it claims. If CBO scoring is right, this ought to embarrass the House Republican leadership.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration refuses to commit to a debt ceiling plan on paper. Which ought to embarrass the White House.

The Reid plan’s claimed defense savings are based on bad math. Which should embarrass Senate Democrats.

And this, quite frankly, should embarrass all of us.
