My Latest Podcast

On the ongoing effort to craft a debt ceiling deal.

I’ve previously covered how bad it would get if the debt ceiling limit is not raised by August 2nd, but in the event that you need another source to tell you just how apocalyptic things would be if a debt ceiling deal is not agreed to in time, read this.

I’m amazed that you actually believe that we can’t maintain the current debt limit and pay our bills.

The facts show that we cannot.

I suppose, then, that the Bipartisan Policy Center was lying in their Debt Ceiling Analysis. I suppose, too, that you know better than they.

I have links with information backing up my analysis. If you don’t want to believe them, that’s your business. But I have a good faith belief in what I wrote. Moreoever, the snideness in your comments is uncalled for, and will stop. I trust I make myself clear.

If you can’t handle a little snideness, then maybe the Internet isn’t for you. And again with the banning threat (veiled though it is)? Seriously? You have the strongest authoritarian impulses I’ve ever seen in a “conservative-libertarian” website proprietor. You don’t like someone’s speech? Defeat it with more speech, not by censoring the speaker. You know, like practicing what you preach and all that jazz.

Or maybe you’ll just delete this comment and show which impulses truly hold sway.

Seeing as how it is my blog, I will govern the comments forum as I wish–whatever my political views may be. Indeed, given the conservative/libertarian respect for property rights, you ought not to expect otherwise. As I mentioned above, I have links backing up my analysis. While you hypocritically preach that bad speech ought to be beaten with more speech, you have failed to respond to my substantive links with anything other than substance-free snark (you know, like failing to practice what you preach and all that jazz). I have no problem with bad speech being beaten with more speech, but I do have a problem with allowing my comments section to descend into a sarcasm pit with no valuable commentary accompanying the sarcasm.
So again, cut out the snideness, and if you disagree with what I write, try doing it respectfully. Otherwise, yes, I will ban you. And I won’t lose sleep over it.
