The Cause of Free Trade is Languishing

And it is time to revive it. If reviving it means holding up nominees, that’s fine with me; perhaps the Obama Administration will be moved to accelerate its efforts to ratify dormant free trade agreements, and to move on liberalizing trade on other fronts. There is no magic bullet to getting our economy to grow faster, but free trade is the closest thing to a panacea that there is. It is positively sinful to refrain from using trade as an instrument by which further growth can be achieved.
