Does Mike Lupica Know How To Do Research?

I’m guessing that the answer is no:

Bush was the one-term governor of Texas who became President because his last name was Bush, because he was the affable son of a great American, because people liked him. . . .

From Wikipedia, under the heading “Governor of Texas”:

In 1998, Bush won re-election with a record[51] 69% of the vote.[70] He became the first governor in Texas history to be elected to two consecutive four-year terms.[51]

I don’t get it. Are Lupica and Clift forbidden from using the Internet? I’d respond to the rest of the editorial, by the way, but it is filled with well-worn Bush-bashing, and rage over the fact that many Americans disagree with Lupica’s politics, so, you know, why bother?

I don’t bother with his columns, but don’t avoid his sports novels because of them. His fiction is pretty good.
