How Undemocratic is Hugo Chavez?

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on October 4, 2010

Undemocratic enough that he will ignore election results that were surprisingly disappointing for his side (despite the fact that the opposition in Venezuela is regularly harassed by the Chavez government), and undemocratic enough that he is agitating for the permanent militarization of a private army that he will use to keep power, and to try to crush dissent.

To think that there was actually a debate at one time over whether Chavez was a dictator.
