The Beam In Their Eyes

So, University of Chicago law professor Todd Henderson wrote a blog post discussing how his family would be affected by a rollback in the Bush tax cuts. Instantly, he was accused of “whining” by various commenters, and by the likes of Michael O’Hare, and Brad DeLong.

Via Glenn Reynolds, we find out another law instructor at the University of Chicago–and his wife–are much given to whining, despite being substantially wealthy. I wonder if O’Hare and DeLong will go after this latter couple anytime soon. Something tells me that they won’t.

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, can’t we have a better Reality-Based Community?

Being actually reality-based would interfere with their worship of state power. And we couldn't have that, could we?

Because they've only dabbled into Reality?

Because they can't buy a better echo chamber?

Reality is spending midnight, at the emergency vet, on a saturday night, spending what money you can afford to spend, and not what needs to be spent, on the best treatment for getting a whole bunch of string out of the dainty little behind of your Tortie Kitten who got a little too hungry for her own curious good. ;-D

Well, yes, it's a problem. There are (perhaps) factual and reasonable arguments to be made for various aspects of modern leftism, but lefties aren't making them.

American leftism has a very weak intellectual base.

That's easy. There isn't anything “reality-based” about. That was just another cynical expropriation of concepts and language. Don't believe the hype.

“So, University of Chicago law professor Todd Henderson wrote a blog post discussing how his family would be affected by a rollback in the Bush tax cuts.”

Actually the blog post was primarily about how his rational and necessary response to the rise in taxes would put people out of work.

    Because it's virtual reality.

Ah, I think I see the error that is causing your anguish.

“Why, oh why, …. Can't we have a better Community-based Reality?”

See? The question now answers itself!

Rather odd that the Left should nevertheless have held a near-total monopoly over the academy for over a hundred years. It suggests a lack of competition. Here's to this changing soon.

Who cares about reality? WE HAVE DRAMA!

Most of the Reality Based Community that I've seen can only handle the reality that is provided by those they look down on, the employers and those who actually do things.

I just want to know if you actually read all of the “why, oh why”s, or if you just skipped to the end. Fess up!
