In Praise of Confusion and Discord

Hardliner-on-hardliner political warfare in Iran is just the thing to bring joy to the hearts of those who believe that the Iranian leadership class is nowhere near as good as the people it purports to lead. More like this please; there can be few things more delightful than seeing the hardline class torn to shreds thanks to constant internecine political struggles.

Oh, and for those who think that a revolt against the Iranian leadership class is now out of the question, consider the following passage:

“Harsh repression has apparently given some extra oxygen to the regime,” said Michel Makinsky, an Iran specialist at the Poitiers School of Business and Management in France. “But the fire is still burning. There is a divorce between society and the regime.”
