Harry Reid Promises a Public Option

“It’s just a question of when.”

I presume that Reid and others want us to have a health care system more like the National Health Service in Britain. The problem, of course, is that the British cannot afford the NHS anymore.

More here. It’s interesting to see how Europe now realizes it cannot afford a cradle-to-grave welfare state, while we in the United States seem to believe that such a state ought to be our destiny. What makes us think that we will be able to afford for the long term what Europe increasingly cannot?

Counting money doesn't matter to the Privileged Class (pols, unions, etc). What matters is making enough benefit promises to the Serf's to keep the Serf's voting for and supporting the Privileged Class system. It's great for counting votes, not so much for counting money. Votes equate to perpetual power for the Privileged, which is all that is important… Need more money? Jjust print some up…. It grows on trees, you know….
