Bring Back Dueling

I have long been in favor of the move. A strong case for bringing back dueling can be found here. Of course, I wouldn’t take this position were it not for the fact that codes associated with dueling seek to bring about peaceful resolutions to conflicts before any blood is shed, but even if this were not the case, innocent lives would be saved by ensuring, through the presence and organization of duels regulated by a code of conduct, that noncombatants would be nowhere near the line of fire if antagonists decided to use violence to settle their disputes. Violence amongst people cannot be stamped out, at least not in the near term. Better to have organized violence that does not harm innocents, than disorganized violence that is not sanctioned by the law, that is random in its choice of targets, and that maims or kills those who play no part whatsoever in the antagonism between two or more parties.

Bring back dueling only if the attorney's have to shoot it out. How many years before attorneys go extinct?… Outlaw it again, a year after that point in time…
