The Second Amendment: Part Of The Constitution After All

It is gratifying to see that the Supreme Court made the right decision on the latest gun rights case before it, and ruled that the Second Amendment applies to the states. To be sure, there will be regulations that limit the applicability of the Second Amendment, just as there are regulations that limit the applicability of just about every right under the Constitution. But up until now, gun control advocates have sought to argue that while every other amendment in the Constitution expands liberty, the Second Amendment somehow restricted it, and did not count as an individual right. That claim cannot be made anymore.

More on this matter from Glenn Reynolds, who has followed Second Amendment like a bulldog throughout his blogging career.

The anti-gun folks are already talking about how this is really a victory because they can still try to ban guns! (I understand the PR angle – you can't tell your donors you failed. But it's really absurd.)
