Bombast At The Justice Department

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on June 19, 2010

I am aware of the fact that Cabinet Secretaries are political figures, but when Cabinet Secretaries like the Attorney General of the United States have the power to make life miserable for others via prosecutions, and civil actions that stem from the Justice Department, perhaps the Attorney General ought to more carefully calibrate comments that lead people to believe he is out to tar and feather various potential defendants.

Particularly when it turns out that the Justice Department never had a case worth bringing against those potential defendants in the first place.

I hate to keep harping on this kind of thing, but if this kind of activity were a hallmark of the Justice Department during the Bush Administration, critics would be up in arms about the incipient advent of fascism, the strong-arm tactics of an Imperial Presidency, the death of the democratic republic, etc.
