Pej, I would bet that the float is from the Krewe de Tas (sp?) parade, which is satirical. They bash everyone. The message could be farcical. Not saying it can't be idol worship, just suggesting that it might carry a different mesage in the context of the parade.
Point taken, and thanks for the comment. Obviously, I need to be more familiar with my Mardi Gras info, which would perhaps entail future visits to the Big Easy. A fact-finding mission, you understand; it's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
I just know you're equal to the task. Actually, that parade is my favorite (besides Bacchus) – the image of a larger-than-life Monica Lewinsky riding a giant cigar like Slim Pickens will always linger.
