Backing a repeal of Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell is absolutely the right thing to do, and it is very helpful to the cause that the former Vice President and Secretary of Defense has gotten behind the effort to repeal. One hopes that he will follow up on his announced support for the repeal by getting on the phone with Republican Representatives and Senators, and urging them to back the change in policy.
There is no reason for servicemen and women to lie about who they are in order to be able to serve the country. There never was. And hopefully, soon, there will no longer need to be.
