What Krugman Didn't See . . .

Or, perhaps, what he saw, and chose to ignore. To be sure, the plural of “anecdote” isn’t “data,” but let it be noted that Paul Krugman based his “social democracy is awesome!” argument on appeals to anecdotal thinking, as the excerpt from Matt Welch made clear. To the extent that Welch is dealing in anecdotes, he is doing so at Krugman’s invitation. Neither Krugman, nor his allies in the argument over social democracy, can complain.

UPDATE: More from Megan McArdle.
