Senator Trainwreck

Tom Coburn, on the Senate floor, has forced the reading of the entire amendment to the health care reform bill, introduced by Bernie Sanders.

I’d pretend to be upset about the use of this dilatory tactic, but seeing as how similar tactics would be used against Republicans at the first available opportunity, I guess I’ll just say that I am not.

    It's a great ploy.

Never let a crisis go unused. I'd take it up a level and start submitting a slew of conservative market-based solutions in simple easy to understand English to health care reform and ask they be read…

After that is done, submit them all over again to be read in Spanish, Swahili, and anything else that makes the point that we need to adopt English as the official language… After all, don't the Spanish speaking folks need to here the amendments to health reform in their language? It would open up an entirely different debate about English as the official language that needs to happen — why not as part of the health care reform. Hey, if you're going to bog things down, think out of the box, take it down all the way… That's what the Dem's would do if it helped their cause…

Of course, this leaves the option to do the same to the entire bill — have it read in Spanish, Swahili, Klingon, etc, etc. Let the Dem's look forward to the same thing in Amnesty, Crap and Trade, Card Check, Tax increases, etc, etc…

Reading each one amendment in all the languages the Courts say need to be made available on ballots could go on forever. Might as well force the Dems to add an amendment to health reform that English is the official language of the US to get their health reform through… Never let a crisis go…

If that works, then pick something else to rub the Dem's face in, like reducing corporate tax rates so corporations can pay for health care and cap and trade. Read in Spanish, Swahili, etc.

Hey, until the reform bill with English as the official language passes and is signed into law, there would appear to be NO English only requirement for bills… People need to hear the issues in their own language according to the Courts… or do they… Let the Dem's fight that in the open… Then use Official English as a national issue 2010…
