Concerning this Financial Times story on President Obama’s address to schoolchildren, see my earlier post. The Financial Times made no reference whatsoever to the fawning lesson plan/talking points that were to accompany any speech made by the President. If the lesson plan encouraged kids to think critically and apply some semblance of skepticism to the President’s comments, people like me would have had no problem with the planned speech. Similarly, if there were any encouragement on the part of the Department of Education to have kids research the education policies of this Administration, and come back with critiques, there would have been little at issue.
A note to the Financial Times: Matthew Yglesias is not a disinterested observer. He tried to spin you. Next time, don’t let him.
