Maybe They Should Have A Beer, Or Something

This issue has been discussed before, but it is worth emphasizing anew just how scary it is that the President of the United States does not talk regularly with his commanding general on the ground in Afghanistan. George W. Bush regularly got accused of not listening to the generals, but he certainly did a lot more listening than has President Obama. If the White House is genuine in its desire for a new strategy in Afghanistan, it will actually open the lines of communication more in order to have the President communicate regularly with the military. Thus far, however, the lack of communication seems to indicate a commensurate lack of seriousness when it comes to finding a new strategy in order to prevail in Afghanistan.
