The Job Market

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on August 7, 2009

My colleagues, Ben Domenech and Francis Cianfrocca discussed the new job numbers and the larger picture of the financial crisis. You can check out their discussion here. Notable is Francis’s observation that per the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate declined because people dropped out of the workforce since they became discouraged about their prospects of finding a job. Generally, the unemployment figure appears to be getting better, but we are nowhere near out of the woods yet. At best, as Francis writes, this most recent jobs report is not as bad as people thought it would be.
