Feeling The Volatility

by Pejman Yousefzadeh on August 13, 2009

I know that there are smarter arguments out there for the proposition that anthropogenic global warming is real, and is something that we need to address. Someone should let Debbie Stabenow know about those arguments as quickly as humanly possible:

“Climate change is very real,” she confessed as she embraced cap and trade’s massive tax increase on Michigan industry – at the same time claiming, against all the evidence, that it would not lead to an increase in manufacturing costs or energy prices. “Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I’m flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes.”

(Emphasis mine.) Wow.

I don't know what is more outrageous, the thought that she might actually believe what she's saying or the fact that she thought it would be a good idea to say such a thing in public, because it would convince people of the reality of global warming. Sheila Lee and Barbara Boxer, you've got competition for the title of stupidest woman in politics.
