You know, I would be willing to cut the President a break over the fact that he only just learned about the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. Indeed, the President probably should be cut a break over that, though I suppose I share Ben Smith’s sentiment that it is strange that the agency would never come up in a Presidential Daily Brief. I mean, the agency does deal with “U.S. national defense, homeland security and safety of navigation,” after all, and I am led to understand that those issues are important to a President of the United States.
I suppose, however, that I keep getting hung up on the fact that if George W. Bush had the conversation that Barack Obama had, the derision would fly fast and furious. That kind of makes it hard for me to cut Barack Obama much of a break.
I’ll try to cut him a break. But really, I can’t promise anything.
