Roxana Saberi To Be Freed

saberi4501Good news, though her imprisonment in the first place was a travesty–a fact that should not be obliterated by her release. A key takeaway point from this sorry episode is that it will deter members of the Iranian diaspora from going back to Iran to lend their talents to assisting the country–unless, of course, those Iranians reconcile themselves to living in Iran permanently, or to the possibility that they may spend time in jail for their pains. Since that naturally cuts down on the number of members of the diaspora willing to go back, the end result will be that Iran will suffer.

Those who wonder why it is that I think the Islamic regime is unworthy of the Iranian people may look to this story for their answer. Same goes for those who wonder why it is that I say the same thing of the regime that Abba Eban said of the Palestinians; that they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
