The Flubbing Of Trade Policy

I have harped a lot on the Obama Administration’s seeming unwillingness to put the pedal to the metal when it comes to advancing trade liberalization. Other people should as well; our economy would have gone down in the dumps far earlier were it not for the fact that trade was bolstering us for quite a while, and the contraction of free trade around the world is very worrisome, given the global nature of the economic downturn. When it comes to advancing the cause of trade liberalization, the Obama Administration has been AWOL, as Scott Lincicome points out. Read his op-ed, in which he details how the Administration has failed the cause of free trade thus far, and how it can get its free trade groove back. As always, with such articles, I hope that someone in the White House is reading them as well.
